My never-ending quest to find out what's wrong with me

Well, I have to go to a Rheumatologist because my physician believes I have:

Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic illness characterized by pain, fatigue and poor sleep. Initially FM was thought to be a musculoskeletal disorder because much of the pain experienced seems to be in the muscles. However, extensive research is revealing that fibromyalgia is more accurately defined as a problem of disordered sensory processing originating in the central nervous system and causing central sensitization and pain amplification.

I looked it up and I have every single symptom listed. I am hoping and praying that I will finally receive some sort of info on what is going on with me, because I am sick and tired of getting poked, stuck, x-rayed and psychologically evaluated.

Other than that, my MIL is doing ok. She is happy to be home, but is still pretty weak. She is walking around the house without the aide of a walker, however when going outside she needs support. I am hoping she will regain some strength soon.

I've heard of that, but can't imagine what it must feel like.

Good luck with that. My doctor thought I might have FM when I was younger, but it turned out to be CFS ~ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Still not much fun...

I wish you all the best with this... FM is this bit of a phantom, only really called upon when other things have been selected out and there is nothing there to take its place. Walls of vagueness surround this thing, and I've trying to found out more, that's why I've happened across your post in the first place...

I came up with some pretty good info for dietary changes that might help ease fm, but even at that I'm not totally sure. I read a few things about cortisol injections which sounded rather unpleasant (me being terrified of needles...) and generally it still seems to be something the medical profession hasn't got a real handle on... do injections even work? what works?
