John Scalzi's weekend assignment

Share one of your favorite science fiction movies.

Well it's a toss up between Star Trek movies and the Alien movies. They both have excellent use of graphics and computer animation. The sets are realistic. They both have great actors/actresses. I may lean more to the Alien movies due to the fact it has the suspense and horror aspects thrown in for good measure. All I know is that all of the Alien Movies scared the ba-geezus out of me.

Extra Credit: Who is the coolest science fiction character ever?

I picked the same person as John did. Hands down it's Sigourney Weaver who played the role of Lt. Ellen Ripley. Lt. Ripley is a tremendously heroic woman who doesn't take crap from no one, including the creatures themselves. She's one tough cookie who is also smart, witty and has the ability to control her fear enough to kick some serious Alien butt. Sigourney Weaver played the character so amazingly and realistically that she received a emmy nomination for it.
